About the role

Based on the Ty Verlon Estate in Barry, Roperhurst is looking for a full-time assistant to our part-time Office Manager.

The Office Manager is responsible for completing general ledgers, accounts payable and receivable, financial reporting and other general accounting functions.

The Office Manager is also responsible for assisting in the day to day management of the business. They are responsible for organisation and coordination of office operations, producers and resources to facilitate organisational effectiveness and efficiency.

The Office Manager ensures our compliance with our ISO9001 certification.

You will be enthusiastic, robust and show initiative, with existing skills in Sage book-keeping and office administration, but with the desire to engage with all aspects of the business.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Assist the Office Manager in the performance of their duties:

  • Enter sales and purchase invoices into Sage, and compile month end and year end reports
  • Handle customer inquiries and chase supplier orders
  • Design and implement office policies and procedures, and oversee adherence to company policies and procedures including external audits by ISO9001 specialists
  • Support colleagues with their project management, including searching for appropriate suppliers and sub-contractors
  • Assign and monitor clerical, administrative and secretarial responsibilities and tasks among office staff
  • Monitor and maintain office supplies inventory

Education and Experience

Either a business degree or equivalent, or education to A-level standard with a number of years’ administrative and supervisory experience.

Experience of the following is desirable:

  • accounting, data and administrative management practices and procedures
  • clerical practices and procedures
  • business and management principles

Computer skills and knowledge of office software packages and Sage Accounts/Payroll

Salary and benefits

This is a full-time position, working 8:00-17:00 Mon-Thurs and 8:00-14:00 on a Friday, with a break for lunch and any additional hours as necessary for proper performance of your duties.

Salary: £17,000-18,500 per annum, depending on experience
