The UK standard for fabrication and installation of plastic ductwork is DW154, published by BESA, and recognised and used around the world. BESA is a trade association with interests across building services, and its members are audited against the specialist services they provide to ensure quality and compliance with standards. So Roperhurst as a fabricator and installer of plastic ductwork is audited by BESA, which we welcome because of the comfort it gives our customers.

11/11/13 B&ES publishes "A Client's Guide to Building Engineering Services 2014"

The B&ES has published "A Client's Guide to Building Engineering Services 2014", which covers all aspects of building management to help clients find the right contractor to deliver the job.

Included this year is an article by the Ductwork Group Chairman (and Roperhurst MD) Bob Lane introducing the new DW144, which will have a major impact in 2014 and beyond.

05/06/13 Falling margins in M&E take their toll on major contractors

Emcor last week announced it was pulling out of the UK construction market to focus on facilities management services, and now outsourcing giant Mitie is quitting the M&E market.

West Midlands M&E firm Farrelly Building Services also entered administration on 14 May.  The company, which has been trading since 1995, worked for clients such as Asda and Hilton hotels, and had a framework agreement with Interserve/PriDE for Ministry of Defence projects.

01/03/12 HVCA becomes B&ES

On Thursday 1 March the HVCA became B&ES - the Building & Engineering Services Association. Over 90 per cent of the membership voted to change the name at a special general meeting held in London on Thursday 8 December, following a major consultation exercise.

Three members of Roperhurst's management team have joined the newly formed Institute of Local Exhaust Ventilation Engineers (ILEVE)

ILEVE is being developed under the umbrella of CIBSE (The Chartered Institution of Building Service Engineers) and aims to provide a higher profile and focus for Local Exhaust Ventilation Engineers within CIBSE.

01/06/11 HVCA specialist groups elect new heads

Two of the HVCA's specialist groups, have elected new chairmen and three of the four groups have also elected new vice chairmen at the Association’s recent AGM and conference in London.

Peter Rogers of Ductwork Projects, Wimborne, Dorset, is the new chairman of the Ductwork Group, taking over from Kevin White of Senior Hargreaves, Bury, Lancs, who will serve as immediate past chairman. Bob Lane of Roperhurst, Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, has become vice chairman.

The Chinese economic recovery seems to be in full swing, if Roperhurst's fume scrubbers are any indication.  By the end of the first half of 2011, more than 20 units will have left these shores for various industrial plants across China, in addition to another five for the UK market.
