12/07/11 Roperhurst invests in ILEVE

Three members of Roperhurst's management team have joined the newly formed Institute of Local Exhaust Ventilation Engineers (ILEVE)

ILEVE is being developed under the umbrella of CIBSE (The Chartered Institution of Building Service Engineers) and aims to provide a higher profile and focus for Local Exhaust Ventilation Engineers within CIBSE.

01/06/11 HVCA specialist groups elect new heads

Two of the HVCA's specialist groups, have elected new chairmen and three of the four groups have also elected new vice chairmen at the Association’s recent AGM and conference in London.

Peter Rogers of Ductwork Projects, Wimborne, Dorset, is the new chairman of the Ductwork Group, taking over from Kevin White of Senior Hargreaves, Bury, Lancs, who will serve as immediate past chairman. Bob Lane of Roperhurst, Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, has become vice chairman.

The Chinese economic recovery seems to be in full swing, if Roperhurst's fume scrubbers are any indication.  By the end of the first half of 2011, more than 20 units will have left these shores for various industrial plants across China, in addition to another five for the UK market.

02/08/10 HSE LEV updates

In February we reported the HSE's estimate that only 40% of LEVs in operation in the UK were adequate.

Recent HSE data shows a significant increase in prohibition notices issued in 2009/10, which is in line with the HSE's expectation that there are a huge number of inadequate systems in place, and reinforces the need for all employers to give due consideration to their working environments.

23/02/10 HSE roadshow highlights the risks of inadequate local exhaust ventilation (LEV)

Roperhurst attended the recent HSE roadshow in Bradley Stoke which focused on the importance of LEVs within industry.  Local exhaust ventilation (LEV) can remove airborne contaminants before people breathe them in.

Roperhurst has been designing and installing LEV solutions for more than 30 years, and our staff have more than 100 years experience in this area. Our work includes the design and manufacture of solutions to extract fume and dust, including filtration and/or scrubbing as appropriate.

Companies like Roperhurst have been employing school leavers since its formation in 1976. Its current MD, Bob Lane, joined the company straight from school 29 years ago. Roperhurst is actively looking for more people in this mold - people prepared to learn, advance, manage and lead. It is absolutely vital that government, educators and parents remind their children that university is not the only way, that there are outlets for ambition in other areas, and that leaving education at 16+ should not necessarily mean the end of career prospects.
